They are installed above all types of medical modalities, imaging equipment and various procedures, from radiation oncology to labor/delivery, from cafeterias/food service to pediatric exam rooms to patient rooms, elevators, stair wells, ICU/CCU….even corridors benefit well from these simulated skylights. CMT’s create “focal points” for patients to view before, during and after treatment, serving as a distraction away from viewing the medical equipment, while reducing incidence of squirming and fidgeting or other patient movement. Also helps in minimizing repeat procedures, which cause scheduling delays and patients left waiting for extended periods of time.
An optically clear double-sided adhesive film bonds the transparency to the plexi, creating a rigid panel ready to drop into a suspended ceiling grid or as a replacement of the diffuser lens in a standard fluorescent fixture.
Single panel sizes are: 2’ X 2’ , 2’ X 4’ , and 4’ X 4’. We do not recommend larger sizes in a single panel unless a specially-designed suspended ceiling grid is custom manufactured that would provide a minimum 1-1/2” lip all around the perimeter to secure the panel in the grid and eliminate the possibility of it falling down upon the patient. With a special grid, sizes up to 4’ X 8’ in one panel are available.
Some standard sizes, using
2’ X 2’ or 2’ X 4’ panels are: 4’ X 4’ , 4’ X 6’ , 4’ X 8’ , 4’ X 10’ , 4’ X 12’ , 6’ X 6’ , 6’ X 8’ , 6’ X 10’, 6’ X 12’, 8’ X 8’ , 8’ X 10, 8’ X 12’ . Please see the configuration page to view the various panel combination. Larger sizes are available, although there is a point of diminishing return; in many cases, CMTs that are too large can overwhelm a patient, removing any of the stress/anxiety benefits that would have normally accrued to them.
Although specifically designed for the MRI, LED-illuminated CMTs can be installed
in any environment. Lasting for 8 years or more, and using 70% less electricity than standard
fluorescent lighting, LEDs provide the optimal and beautifully even illumination to display our transparencies.
LED panels, ½” deep, simply lay atop a transparency laminated to 1/8” or ¼” plexi that has been dropped into a suspended ceiling grid. Minimum size: 2’ X 2’ , maximum size: 4’ X 8’ in one panel. Multi LED panels connect to each other with a “spider” device. Each LED panel includes a converter from 110/220 VAC to 12V DC.
We also offer CIRCLES and OVALS, both of which can be illuminated by either LED (recommended) or by fluorescent lamps. Circles and ovals also require a custom aluminum suspended ceiling grid
Before the advent of LED, almost all of our CMTs were illuminated by fluorescent lamps. By simply replacing the flat, prismatic styrene diffuser lens that is supplied with fluorescent fixtures (troffers) with our CMT panels, an instant illumination system is created. It is an inexpensive way to create CMTs simply because most rooms have a suspended ceiling grid that is filled with acoustical panels and fluorescent troffers, usually requiring, at the very most, moving fixtures and/or acoustical panels so that the fixtures are juxtaposed within a patient’s field-of-view.
Because diffuser panels in fluorescent troffers have never been standardized, and can vary up to 4 inches in either plane, we require a field measurement of the diffuser lens in the fixtures that will contain our CMT panels; we custom cut our CMT panels to fit your fixture.
